Event Details

Yo! Listen up, Wombats!
This place is pretty, and you CAN get there!

We are delighted to be hosted by Oliver and Lynda Scott-Tomlin (Oliver's a Cosmic Orange!) at Blackjack's Mill, their B&B in Harefield near Rickmansworth. It is a beautiful place, with river and canal walks, where we hope to spend as much of our time as possible outdoors.

Blackjack's Mill, HarefieldThe theme for the weekend is "I C U" -- Community, Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, Celebration, Ceremony and Connection.

And - wonderful news! - Tracy Apple and Jon Symes from The Pachamama Alliance will be joining us for the weekend.

Coming from the heart, Saturday will be lightly held for us to co-create the day in a way that allows the emergence of self, spirit and community in this work. A day of celebration and sharing, laughter and tears, joy and sorrow...let's be surprised by ourselves! Sunday will continue in the same energy, with co-created, lightly facilitated workshops on themes suggested at our last Gathering in Bristol. And please don't feel limited by the booking options above - if, for example, you can arrive for Saturday night and stay on for the Sunday workshops, that's great, just let us know. :-)

What and how shall we be doing and being?

DAY 1 (Sat 26th) - National Gathering

10:00 - arrive, land, become present

10:30 - opening sacred space

12:30 - bring and share lunch
(plus shared time on the land, by the water)

5:30ish - closing (widening!) the circle

6:00 - simple vegetarian/vegan supper
(plus shared time on the land, by the water)

7:30 - fire circle

DAY 2 (Sun 27th) - Workshops

In the same energy as Saturday, the workshops will be lightly facilitated, designed to be co-creative rather than 'taught', so please consider what you can bring to them as well as what you hope to find (though by its nature the AV one will be more of a demonstration!)

9:00 - walk

9:45 - opening sacred space

10:00 - 12:30 - Morning workshops 1 & 2 (concurrent)

12:45 - checking in

1:00 - simple vegetarian/vegan lunch & walk

2:15 - 4:45 - Afternoon workshops 3 & 4 (concurrent)

5:00 - checking in

5:15 closing (widening!) the circle

The workshop topics are:

  • Getting Creative with the Symposium
  • Playing with the AV elements in Keynote (Mac) and PowerPoint (PC)
  • Facilitating Powerful Exercises (with particular reference to The Work That Reconnects)
  • Networking and Promotion - where to start when planning a Symposium

TRAVEL

Find Blackjack's Mill on this corrected Google Map (the one on the right is unhelpful!):
http://tinyurl.com/blackjacksmill

For directions by Car, visit the Blackjack's Mill website (above) and click on "How to find us".

For travel by Train, Rickmansworth is on the Aylesbury to London Marylebone line. Trains are quite frequent and, if you require a lift (or an inexpensive minibus ride), please ensure that you are at the station by 9:15, and let us know by selecting the appropriate option on the booking page. (There are also other stations nearby, from which you can make your own way to the venue!)

IMPORTANT: Metropolitan AND Central Lines are NOT RUNNING properly that weekend, with slow replacement bus services in operation. Please don't plan to travel by TUBE, unless via the Piccadilly Line to Ruislip then a minicab (not recommended!)

Booking - Please Note:

  1. There is a small additional charge for paying online, but it makes it easier for you and us. If you prefer not to pay that charge, please make sure you bring enough money or your cheque book on the day, or (better) mail a cheque (payable to "Be The Change Initiative") to: Diane Sharp, BTCI, 46 Windmill Street, Brill, Buckinghamshire, HP18 9TG - and if you are paying by cheque, please still go through this online registration process so we know you are coming and what you need!
  2. That said... as well as some people showing up twice (!), not everyone who is coming has registered using this system, so the Attendee List below will be incomplete!
